The World Ended Twenty Years Ago in Fire and Blood... Now Demons Walk the Earth...

President Kennedy's Televised Address to the Nation At the Outbreak of the Third World War
Saturday, October 27, 1962, 7:00 p.m. EST

My fellow Americans, it is with a heavy heart I speak to you this evening. A Soviet submarine carrying a nuclear torpedo attempted to run our quarantine line in the Sargasso Sea, and, when our ships attempted to intercept it, fired its ordnance. The loss of life was heavy. I very much regret to say, this country is now in a state of war with the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics.

I have ordered air strikes at this hour in an effort to eliminate the threat posed by the offensive nuclear missiles the enemy has emplaced in Cuba, while making every effort to spare the imprisoned populace of that unhappy island.

Our cause, which is the cause of the entire Free World, must and shall prevail with the help of our Armed Forces, and God in whom we trust. May God give them victory, and God bless America.
